The attentionworthy, the craveworthy and perhaps the occasional unsavory, in and around Columbus, OHIO...capital city...sleeper hottie of the midwest.

I have a Tweeter to thank for posting this link about the old North Graveyard (Est. 1813) a few days ago. I’d heard about the most recent excavations near the North Market in the early aughts but never investigated it much further. Particularly interesting: the man with drop-seat pants and extra shoulder bones who seemed to beckon rain every time the crew tried to move him!

Fun Fact: Living in the Short North helped inspire the creation of Fuck Yeah Ohio.

Can you name this spot in the Short North?  I’ve got mayjah luv for these tiles.

Q. Is it too early in the morning to be that kind of thirsty?

A. On a day as sobering as Monday, why even ask? Pictured above: a view from Bodega in the Short North. In addition to 50 craft brews on tap, Mondays offer $1 grilled cheese sandwiches until 11pm. Happy hour is 4-8, M-F…glug, glug!

Doo Dah 2012

My absolute favorite thing about Columbus’ annual Doo Dah Parade is that there are no real expectations attached to it.  Anyone can show up to participate and the rest of us just love to watch.  Now that’s a community festival.  Not pictured: the Evolved crew pulling a vehicle by body piercings, the occasional miniature horse, American Powerless Electric, the CD101 van and a group of mock protestors.

This Movie Will Change Your Life

I know there are a million bajillion things going on in Klumbis this weekend, but guys and gals, if there’s one thing you must do, it’s hop on over to the Garden Theater at 9pm on Saturday (6/9) to watch this baby on the big screen.

Yep, it’s The Village People’s 1980 musical. Never heard of it? There’s definitely one photo alone that I could have posted and said, “read no further, just go see this movie and oh yeah…it will also CHANGE YOUR LIFE”, but I think more is better when it comes to Can’t Stop The Music.

In fact, I’mma bump all other content to the bottom of the page for Bruce Jenner’s crop top and jean shorts.  How will this change your life…and whodat to his left?

Yep, that would be none other than co-star Steve Guttenberg on rollerskates. There’s more where this split-screen action came from and it’s ready to steal a slice of the big ol’ pie chart we call your brain. Sold?

Maybe this still from a song and dance number will intrigue you (yes, she is biting the construction worker’s bicep). Besides having the chance to watch from seats in the newly renovated Garden Theater in the Short North District, this larger than life and at times uproariously confusing piece of cinema with leave you laughing and full of dance moves that, trust me—will be good to bust out of your back pocket (or loin cloth) at house parties and discos alike. I won’t be in town this weekend for the fun, but I don’t want to come back home and find out this event was anything less than way too crowded. A great start to Pride week!
